Arkansas Head Coach Carie Dever-Boaz
On the game:
"Any time you come to the NCAA's and get a win it feels great. I think our girls played a good game today. Obviously we had a lot of opportunities to score a lot of runs. (The last) 60 feet to home plate is still haunting us but with two runs today, that was all we needed. I felt our girls continually came back. I'm very proud of our team and excited about what they've done and how far they have come."
On Valanna Lyons' pitching:
"I thought Valanna threw a very good game for us today and she got herself out of some jams."
On playing Texas tonight:
"What we wanted is one more game and that's what we're taking right now. Everybody goes, `Oh jeez, you have to play (Cat) Osterman and Texas.' Well we might as well beat the best right now. At the moment, we're not even thinking about Texas. We're enjoying where we're at and what we're doing."
Arkansas Pitcher Valanna Lyons
On getting the start:
"I'm always ready whenever coach gives me the ball. I just try to go out and help the team."
On what was working for her:
"Just a little bit of everything. I just try to keep the ball moving and the batters off-balance. And with our defense, everything worked out fine."
Arkansas Infielder Tiffany Woolley
On her hit that scored the first run:
"That was a suicide squeeze with a one-and-one count and that's one of my favorite plays in softball. It's a do-or-die situation. You don't have to think or decide what you're going to do. You just have to do your job and it worked great for us."
Army Head Coach Jim Flowers
On the game:
"Arkansas' pitcher had a nice drop ball and we probably weren't as patient as we should have been. She put the ball where she had to put it and we had opportunities to score. We knew we would be in a tight one or two-run ballgame and we didn't take advantage of the opportunities given to us. They did."
On making it to the regional:
"It has been a great pleasure and we're very honored to have come here. A special treat was last night's win. First of all it's good for softball as a whole, it's good for the Patriot League, East Coast teams, and it's especially good for the United States Army. This is our fist time to make it to a regional and we hope to be back here many times. It tells us that our program is headed in the right direction."
Army Outfielder Nicki Robbins
On the game:
"We came out more aggressive than we did yesterday and more confident than before. We're here to play to win, not to just play to play. We came out swinging just like yesterday, but more confident today. They got the breaks today, they got the walk and we didn't. We're a good Army team and I wish we had another day to prove just how good we are."
