Kansas, the tournament's No. 7 seed, used a sixth-inning run to fend off 10th-seeded Texas Tech in a Big 12 Softball Tournament play-in game Thursday in Oklahoma City. The Jayhawks kept their season alive by posting the 2-1 victory while Tech's year came to an end.

Leadoff hitter Shelly Musser drove in Courtney Wright with a one-out single to left in the bottom of the sixth for the game-winning run. Wright reached on an error, advanced to second on a bunt and then took third on a Maggie Ayres illegal pitch.

Musser scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first on a passed ball. The Red Raiders knotted the score in the fourth on a Rebecca Eimen leadoff home run, her fifth of the year.

KU's Kara Pierce gave up six hits and no walks while striking out eight Red Raiders to move to 12-8 on the season. Ayres surrendered just two hits and a walk in six innings of work and did not strike out a batter. Her record fell to 3-9.

Kansas, which improved to 32-23, will face second-seeded Oklahoma Thursday night. Tech finished its season with a 13-40 mark.
