Three Tennis Players Named To Academic All-Big 12 Team

NORMAN, Okla. - Three Oklahoma tennis players were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team the conference office announced today. Juniors Annette Bryntesson, Chris Mitchell and Matt Ogle made the first team with a 3.20 or better grade point average.

Bryntesson, a pre-journalism major, is a native of Perth, Australia. Mitchell and Ogle are both from Tulsa, Okla., and major in zoology and finance, respectively.

All together, 58 student-athletes were named to the first and second teams. To qualify for the academic honor, students must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA either cumulative or in the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

The men's and women's tennis teams will be competing at the Big 12 Championships this week in College Station, Texas, at Texas A&M. The women face Nebraska on Thursday, April 25, at 1 p.m., while the men will go up against Baylor on Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m. It is a single elimination tournament.
