Gilheany, Nahum Finish Runners-Up at ITA All-Americans
September 28, 2025 | Women's Tennis
The 27th-ranked duo won six consecutive matches, including two in the qualifying draw, to become the second Oklahoma pairing in the past three years to reach the doubles final of the prestigious tournament. They follow in the footsteps of Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina, who captured the program's first title in 2023.
In the championship match, Gilheany and Nahum fell to No. 39 Maria Sholokhova and Lucie Urbanova of Wisconsin, 6-3, 6-3.
On their path to the final, Gilheany and Nahum knocked off four top-20 opponents, highlighted by a semifinal win over preseason No. 1 Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton of North Carolina. With their quarterfinal victory over No. 17 Catherine Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso of Tennessee, the Sooners duo secured a spot in the NCAA Individual Championships, set for Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
In singles play, senior No. 13 Julia Garcia Ruiz reached the Round of 16, finishing with a 3-2 record. Her performance was highlighted by a straight-set victory over No. 26 Lily Jones of Michigan in the consolation bracket.
No. 79 Salakthip Ounmuang ended her main draw run in the consolation Round of 32 after advancing from the qualifying round.
The Sooners return to action Oct. 16-20, when they host the ITA Central Regional Championship at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman for the first time since 2019. Singles finalists and the doubles champion will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Individual Championships.
