NORMAN, Okla. - In its last home match of the 2002 season, the Oklahoma women's tennis team walked away with a 4-3 victory over Oklahoma State at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center today. With only one regular season match remaining, the No. 49 Sooners are 14-7 overall and 4-6 in the Big 12. The Cowboys dropped to 11-10 and 5-5 in league play.

"That was a huge win for us today," said OU head coach Mark Johnson. "We are kind of on the bubble NCAA-wise, and that may have given us a boost going into the Big 12 Championships next week. We have to be careful of Missouri this weekend because they are an up and down team. It will definitely be a dog fight with them on Saturday in Columbia."

Clinching the win for OU was sophomore Anda Perianu at No. 1 doubles. In a hard-fought match with Dominika Olszewska, she came out victorious with a 6-4, 7-5, win. Perianu is now 15-5 at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles this spring and 19-6 overall in her first year at Oklahoma.

The Sooners returns will play their final regular season match at Missouri on Saturday, April 20. Match time is set for 1 p.m . at the MU Outdoor Tennis Complex in Columbia. The Tigers are ranked No. 65 and are 10-10 overall and 2-8 in the Big 12.
