NORMAN, Okla. - After picking up a win in game one of a softball doubleheader versus Texas Tech, the ninth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners shut out the Red Raiders, 4-0, in the second game Friday night at the OU Softball Complex. Oklahoma starting pitcher Angela Foster (6-1) picked up the win in her second complete game and strikeout of the year. Foster recorded her Sooner career-best with eight strikeouts. The two-game series sweep improved OU to 31-8 overall and 4-0 in the Big 12 and a three-way tie for first place in the conference race. Tech, who lost its seventh in a row to the Sooners, dropped to 10-26 and 0-6 in the league.

"We swung the bats better in the second game," said Oklahoma Head Coach Patty Gasso following the game. "Kelli Braitsch had a timely hit that was important. That's what we are looking for -- timely hits when we need them."

"Angela Foster had a good look in her eye and I was extremely happy with her eight strikeouts."

Foster used four of her strikeouts to finish off four of the innings. Before issuing a leadoff walk in the top of the seventh inning, Foster had retired 17 of her last 18 batters and allowed only one batter to reach scoring position the entire game. Foster's line in the game finished off with two hits.

After falling behind 1-0 to the Red Raiders in game one, the Sooners quickly took a 1-0 lead of their own in the bottom of the first inning. Junior rightfielder Jennifer Stump (2-for-3) continued to produce in the leadoff spot for OU as she began OU's half of the inning with a single. Following a sacrifice by senior leftfielder Christy Ring (0-for-2) to move Stump to second base, junior third baseman Leah Gulla (1-for-3) doubled Stump home for the first run of the game.

Gulla had a hand in the second run of the game as she hit her team-leading 10th home run of the year, a solo shot to left field.

Junior shortstop Kelli Braitsch (1-for-3) plated a pair of insurance runs for the Sooners when her double to right-center field in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Ring and Gulla, who had both reached base on errors by the Tech shortstop.

Oklahoma next battles Oklahoma State in the first Bedlam matchup of the year in Stillwater on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
