GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The seventh-ranked Oklahoma softball team displayed its power on Saturday as four of their six team hits went for extra bases, including two home runs, as OU came from behind to defeat Utah, 6-1, in its first game of competition at the UTA Tournament on Saturday. Junior second baseman Tiffany Weight hit a solo shot and sophomore pinch hitter Megan Hube nailed a grand slam to furnish five of OU's runs. Oklahoma improved to 3-0 in the classic and on the season.

"I don't think we came out with a lot of energy to begin the game. We started off slow in the first couple of innings," said OU Head Coach Patty Gasso following the game. "Tiffany Weight really responded well after we talked about it as a team with her home run."

"Megan's (Hube) hit was a big one. We're still going to get some strikeouts from her, but we're also going to get some big hits from her too like the one she hit today," said Gasso.

Both teams remained scoreless until the third inning when Utah got on the scoreboard first. Pitcher/designated player Heather Bowlin (2-for-2) doubled to lead off the frame and was brought home on a RBI-single by Ute centerfielder Molly McLean (1-for-3) to score Utah's lone run of the contest.

Weight (1-for-2) answered the run in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer to center field, the first of her Sooner career, to knot the game at 1-1. Hube then gave the Sooners the lead for good in the next inning as she stepped to the plate with two outs sent her first career grand slam over the left center field fence. Hube's home run came after the Sooners loaded the bases on a walk, single and a hit batter.

The grand slam put OU in control of the game and Stewart lasted another inning before turning over the game to Angela Foster to begin the sixth. Foster retired the side in her first frame and struck out four of the seven batters she faced over the final two innings.

OU plated its final run in the sixth when junior rightfielder Jennifer Stump (1-for-2) doubled to lead off the inning and scored on the Sooners' second consecutive double by freshman catcher Christina Enea (2-for-3).
