NORMAN, Okla. - In a battle of two local softball teams, Oklahoma came from behind to beat Oklahoma City, 8-2, at the OU Softball Complex Tuesday afternoon. Three Sooner errors led to the Stars' lone run in the second inning before OU bounced back with a five-run third inning and a three spot in the sixth frame. The Sooners' leading hitter in the game was freshman catcher Christina Enea who went 3-for-4 at the plate and contributed three RBI and scoring a run. OU moved to 11-0 on the year, while loss began the season for OCU at 0-1.

"Christina Enea and Heather Scaglione had some big hits for us today," commented OU Head Coach Patty Gasso following the Sooners' fourth straight victory over the Stars. "I really like how our offensive production is coming along this season."

Errors plagued the Sooners in the second inning when the Stars scored their only run. After two outs were recorded in the inning, OCU third baseman Paula Garman (1-for-3) reached base on an error by freshman second baseman Jessica Leslie (0-for-1). After stealing second base, Garman advanced to third on a throwing error by Enea and a second error on the same play by junior centerfielder Jennifer Stump (1-for-3).

The Sooners exploded for a five-run fifth inning to regain control of the game. With one out, OCU starter Lindsey Voss (0-1) walked the next three batters before Stump stepped to the plate and hit a two-RBI single. Stump was then brought home two batters later on a double by Enea, her second two-bagger of the game. OU's other two runs were scored on a put out to first base and consecutive wild pitches by Voss.

Oklahoma spotted three more runs in the sixth inning to cushion the lead. Enea collected two more RBI with a single to plate senior leftfielder Christy Ring (0-for-3) and Stump.

OU starter Angela Foster worked the first three innings of the game and did not relinquish a hit before being relieved by freshman Kami Keiter (2-0) who pitched the next 2.1 innings for her second win. Sophomore Adrianne Ratliff finished the final 1.2 innings of scoreless ball.

The Sooners hit the road for Columbus, Ga., to compete in the NFCA Leadoff Classic this weekend. Competition for Oklahoma begins at 5 p.m. on Friday against Utah.
