Softball Kickoff Luncheon Set

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma softball team will officially kickoff the season on January 30 with their annual kickoff luncheon. The luncheon, which provides fans and supporters a preview of the upcoming season, is scheduled to be held at The Villager Lodge in Norman from 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Guests will then be invited to the OU Softball Complex for a tour of the new facilities at the conclusion of the luncheon.

The luncheon is open to the public and the cost to attend is $10 per person. Current softball players and coaches will also be in attendance. Reservations may be made by contacting the OU Athletic Development Office at (405) 325-8967.

The Sooners enter the season ranked seventh in the USA Today/NFCA Preseason Top 25 Poll and return two All-Americans and five All-Big 12 selections, including the 2001 Big 12 Player of the Year Kelli Braitsch, from last year's squad that made its second straight trip to the Women's College World Series. The squad opens the season on the road at the UTA Tournament in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Friday, Feb. 8, against Texas-Arlington at 10 a.m.
