Second-seeded Oklahoma rode the arm of Jennifer Stewart to a 6-0 shutout of rival Oklahoma State in the championship game of the sixth annual Big 12 Tournament. The left-handed junior limited the fifth-seeded Cowgirls to five hits and won her third game of the tournament and 32nd game of the year against just three losses. The tournament title is Oklahoma's second in the Big 12 as it also won the inaugural event in 1996.

The Sooners jumped on the board in the bottom of the first when Jennifer Stump hit a sacrifice fly to plate Big 12 Player of the Year Kelli Braitsch. OU tallied two more runs in the fourth when OSU pitcher Tiffany Paper committed a throwing error trying to nail Jennifer Stump at the plate. Erin Evans also came around to score on the play. The Sooners capped the scoring in the fifth when Stump hit a two-run homer and Leah Gulla doubled in Evans. Oklahoma State threatened by advancing runners to second and third with two outs before Casey O'Neill grounded out to Braitsch at shortstop.

Oklahoma improved to 3-0 against the Cowgirls this year and outscored OSU by a 25-0 count. The win for OU was its 18th in a row and improved its season record to 45-7. Oklahoma State finished 3-2 in the tournament and fell to 28-23 on the year.

Oklahoma's Jennifer Stump, Lisa Carey, Ashli Barrett and Jennifer Stewart all made the all-tournament team and Carey was named MVP. Cowgirls Amanda Hayes and Jade Lindly also made the all-tournament squad.
