Eighth-seeded Missouri edged ninth-seeded Texas in a Big 12 Tournament play-in game this afternoon. Missouri shortstop Lindsey Jacoby opened the fourth inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Rachel McGinnis. Jacoby then advanced to third on a Texas second baseman Sarah Wieszczak throwing error before Melanie Fisher drove Jacoby in on a fielder's choice.

Texas threatened in the seventh when catcher Marlo Hanks doubled to left and moved to third on a sacrifice, but was stranded on a ground out and strike out that ended the game.

Missouri pitcher Stephanie Falk threw her 32nd complete game of the season and her seventh shutout to improve to 24-19 on the year. Texas' Charla Moore, who also tossed a complete game, fell to 13-16.

Missouri, 31-26, advances to the Big 12 double-elimnation tournament and faces No. 1 seed Nebraska at 7:30 p.m. Texas is eliminated from the tournament and ends 2001 at 24-29.
