Second-seeded Oklahoma closed out second-day play of the Big 12 Tournament with a 2-1 win over third-seeded Texas Tech. The Sooners improved to 2-0 in tournament play while Tech fell to 1-1.

The Red Raiders scored first in the top of the second inning when first baseman Carmen Grindell cleared the centerfield fence with her sixth homer of the year. It was the first homer surrendered by Oklahoma since March 30. The Sooners answered in the bottom of the third when first baseman Lisa Carey blooped a double to centerfield that scored LaKisha Washington and Kelli Braitsch, who had both walked. Braitsch avoided the tag at home by diving head first.

Jennifer Stewart gave up just two hits and no walks for OU to improve to 31-3 on the season. Tech's Amanda Renfro, who pitched a five-inning one-hitter earlier today, gave up three hits and two walks in six innings to the Sooners. Renfro's record fell to 30-17.

Oklahoma, ranked fifth nationally, has now won a school-record 16 straight games and will play the winner of Friday's Nebraska/Kansas game at 5 p.m. Friday. Texas Tech will take on Texas A&M in an elimination game Friday morning at 11.
