Kansas vs. Baylor Recap

Fourth-seeded Kansas rebounded from a morning defeat to eliminate sixth-seeded Baylor this afternoon.

Shortstop Courtney Wright went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs to lead a Kansas offensive showing that produced 13 hits. A total of five Jayhawks registered two hits each and KU's first four hitters accounted for seven runs.

Freshman Kara Pierce relieved starter Kirsten Milhoan and picked up her 22nd win of the season. Pierce threw 3.2 innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk. Baylor's Sarah Caudle pitched 5.1 innings and surrendered all 10 runs (five earned) on 12 hits. Caudle, who also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run and an RBI, saw her record fall to 8-6.

Kansas improved to 32-26 on the season while Baylor fell to 38-22. The Jayhawks will face Nebraska Friday at 1:30 p.m. in an elimination game.
