Softball Earns No. 2 Seed in Upcoming Big 12 Tournament

NORMAN, Okla. - It came down to the final weekend, but the sixth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (41-7, 14-2 Big 12) will be No. 2 seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City. The sixth annual event gets underway on Wednesday at the Don Porter Hall of Fame Stadium and concludes with the championship game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Riding a 14-game winning streak, the Sooners finished just percentage points behind the top-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Huskers' 16-2 league record and .889 percentage edged out OU's 14-2 and .875.

Despite splitting a doubleheader with Nebraska on Saturday, Kansas (31-25, 10-8) fell to the fourth seed after dropping Sunday's 4-3 decision to Missouri. Texas Tech (32-20, 10-8) jumped ahead of the Jayhawks for the No. 3 seed.

Oklahoma State (25-21, 8-8) and Baylor (38-20, 7-9) will be the fifth and sixth seeds. The bottom four seeds will play in for the final two spots on Friday at 5 p.m. No. 8 Missouri will face No. 9 Texas and No. 7 Texas A&M will play No. 10 Iowa State.
