OU Softball Pounds Tulsa, 13-2

TULSA, Okla.-- Seventh-ranked Oklahoma (38-7, 12-2 Big 12) wasted no time extending its winning streak to 11 games with a 13-2 win over Tulsa (12-34, 2-6 WAC) in front of 806 fans at the Charles Page Sports Complex in Sand Springs on Wednesday.

OU pounded out 13 hits off TU starter Jenny Magill (9-16), who was credited with the loss after giving up 13 runs (two earned) and striking out four. The Sooners scored all 13 runs in the first two innings and then were able to sit most of their starters the final three frames.

In the first inning, OU sent 17 batters to the plate for 12 runs on eight hits and were helped out by four Golden Hurricane errors. The first seven batters reached base and scored before the first out was recorded. OU added another five runs before TU got out of the inning.

Sophomore Kelli Braitsch extended her career-high hitting streak to 12 games when she singled on the first pitch of the game. She also had a two-run triple in the same inning.

The lone run in the second inning came on a Christy Ring double to left center that scored Braitsch, who led off with a double.

Freshman Adrianne Ratliff (12-3) pitched the complete game and gave up two runs on six hits. The Claremore, Okla., native didn't allow the two runs until the fifth inning after giving up just three hits and two walks in the first four.

Braitsch led the way with a 4-for-4 performance and scored three runs while driving in two. Ring went 2-for-3 with two runs and 2 RBIs, while Andrea Davis added two runs and an RBI on her two hits.

The Sooners hit the road for their final Big 12 series with two games at Kansas. The teams will play at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
