NORMAN, Okla. - Among blustery conditions, No. 6 Oklahoma (37-7, 12-2 Big 12) rolled to its 10th straight win with a 7-1 victory over Baylor (34-20, 5-9) at the OU Softball Complex on Sunday. A crowd of 532 witnessed the Sooners play flawless defense and get nine hits while holding the Bears to just one run on six hits.

Baylor starter Joni Miller (24-14) gave up just one hit in the first two innings before OU's offense opened up the game with six runs on four hits in the third. Down 0-2 in the count, leadoff hitter Leah Gulla hit a ball that sailed with the wind over the right field fence. It was her third homer of the year and gave the Sooners a 1-0 lead.

Senior LaKisha Washington walked and advanced to second on a Kelli Braitsch double, but got thrown out in a run-down at home on Christy Ring's bunt. Miller helped the Sooners out when she hit Lisa Carey to load the bases, then walked in the second run with Andrea Davis at the plate. Sophomore Jennifer Stump added to the lead with a two-run double down the left field line and scored on Ashli Barrett's double to right center.

The Sooners got their final run in the fifth when Carey led off with a single to right. After the next two batters were retired, sophomore Erin Evans drove her home with a double to left field.

After getting single hits in the first, third and fourth innings, the Bears got three more in the sixth off OU starter Jennifer Stewart. With two outs, Stacey Hundley got a key single through the left side and advanced on Naomi Fitzgerald's line ball that bounced off Stewart's glove and over to Washington at second.

Catcher Ryan Stukel ended Stewart's streak of 25 scoreless innings with a single out to right that scored Hundley. Stewart then got Sarah Caudle to ground out to second to close out the sixth before striking out two of the three final batters in the seventh.

Stewart (26-3) gave up just one run on six hits and struck out six while walking none. Miller's line included seven runs on seven nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Braitsch continued her hot hitting, with a 3-for-4 outing that extended her hitting streak to a career-high 11 games. Evans was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and Carey went 2-for-2 at the plate.

The Sooners will have a mid-week matchup against Tulsa on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Check back to SoonerSports.com for game site and directions.
