TUCSON, Ariz. - With the score tied at 1-1 and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Oklahoma sophomore Jennifer Stump hit a solo homerun to right center that gave the Sooners a 2-1 win over Baylor in the first day of the Hillenbrand Invitational. OU also run-ruled Indiana State 10-1 earlier Friday to improve to 15-2 on the year.

Oklahoma took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly to right field--also by Stump--that scored Ashli Barrett. The lead held until the top of the seventh when Baylor's Nan Wilkins got a pinch-hit homerun to left field to tie the game.

The Bears looked like they might put some runs up in the fifth when the OU defense stepped up. With one out and runners on first and second, BU's Stacey Hundley hit a ball to shallow center field that sophomore Erin Evans caught on the run and threw to first base. That's where Lisa Carey met the base runner to get OU out of the inning.

Starter Jennifer Stewart (9-1) limited the Bears to just four hits and one run. She struck out five and walked three in the outing. Baylor's Joni Miller (12-3) gave up two runs on five hits in the losing effort.

Every Oklahoma starter got a hit as the Sooners tallied 15 hits and scored 10 runs in the Indiana State win. Junior Christy Ring led OU with a 3-for-3 outing that included two runs and two RBIs.

OU jumped out early, scoring two runs in the first on a Carey sacrifice fly and Mandy Fulton bunt. In the third, OU added another run on an RBI-double to right center by Andrea Davis.

The Sooners scored five runs off seven hits in the fifth. Barrett homered to left field to start the inning and ack-to-back singles by LaKisha Washington and Kelli Braitsch led to two runs when Ring drove them in on a single up the middle. Carey brought her home with a homerun also to left field.

The run-rule was completed in the fifth when Leah Gulla singled up the middle and scored on a sac fly by Braitsch.

Freshman Adrianna Ratliff picked up the win after limiting the Sycamores to just four hits and one unearned run. She struck out three in the complete-game outing to improve to 6-1.

The Sooners will return to action on Saturday when they face Creighton at 2 p.m. and Western Michigan at 8 p.m. Both times are central.
