ARLINGTON, Texas - After rain and cold conditions forced the final day of the Texas-Arlington/Isuzu Classic to be cancelled, the University of Oklahoma softball team was declared co-champions along with other three semi-finalists Baylor, Louisiana-Monroe and Texas A&M.
OU, who was scheduled to face the Aggies in a 9 a.m. semi-final, is off to a 5-0 start after the first two days of tournament action. The Sooners out-scored their opponents 44-7 in the five wins and were led by sophomore Kelli Braitsch, who went 7-for-11 on the weekend with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs.
Oklahoma opens the home portion of its schedule this weekend when it hosts the OU/adidas Classic on Feb. 16-18 at the OU Softball Complex. The six-team tournament also features Creighton, Texas-San Antonio, Texas Tech, Tulsa and Wichita State.
Friday and Saturday's games will begin at 11 a.m., while Sunday's action starts at 10 a.m. The Sooners' first game will be against Tulsa on Friday evening at 5:45 p.m.
