NORMAN, Okla. - In its first of three matches this week, the University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-27, 1-15 Big 12) fell to No. 13 Texas A&M (20-4, 13-3 Big 12) in three games (30-19, 30-19, 30-21) at the Howard McCasland Field House.
"I thought our players fought hard tonight," said Oklahoma Head Volleyball Coach Kalani Mahi. "But Texas A&M was serving aggressively and our ball control wasn't there like normal."
The Sooners committed eight reception errors, six at the hand of Texas A&M's A.D. Achilefu, who ranks third in the league in service aces. Sooner freshman Emily Kincaid tied a career-best three service aces to lead the team.
Sophomores Logan Pierce and Christina Barlow posted eight kills each to lead the Sooners, while Barlow and junior Denise Griffin hustled for a team-best seven digs each. Junior Jessica Barney and freshman Candice Woods recorded four blocks each to help OU to a total of nine team blocks.
Beth Skypala led the Aggie offense with 12 kills while hitting .304. Tara Pulaski, who played in one game, hit a team-best 1.000 (4K, 0E, 4TA). Melissa Munsch and Julia Rex led the defense with nine digs and five blocks, respectively.
The Sooners are next in action against No. 2 Nebraska on Wednesday, Nov. 14. Match time with the defending national champions is set for 7 p.m. at the Howard McCasland Field House.
