Stacey Dales Selected To Canadian Olympic Basketball Team

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma women's basketball's Stacey Dales was named to the Canadian national women's basketball team slated to participate in this summer's Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Dales, a two-year starting point guard for the Sooners, will be the first women's basketball player in school history to play in an Olympics and the first Oklahoma basketball player since Wayman Tisdale in 1984 to participate in the Games. At the age of 20, Dales will be the youngest member of the national team.

As a sophomore this past season, Dales averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, while dishing out a team-high 190 assists and aiding in leading her team to Sweet Sixteen action in the 2000 Women's NCAA Basketball Tournament. Dales garnered second team All-Big 12 honors for her outstanding performance throughout the season.
