Oklahoma City, Okla.-- Fourth-seeded Texas A&M used an RBI single from Angie Long in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat fifth-seeded Oklahoma State, 3-2, in second-day action of the Big 12 Softball Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Aggies took an early lead when Angie Long scored on a Casey O'Neill error in the bottom of the first inning. OSU tied the game in the top of the fifth when Christina Shaddox belted a solo home run. A&M recaptured the lead in the sixth inning when Cheryl Fowler, who pinch ran for Selena Collins, scored on a Kelly Ferguson single.
The Cowgirls' Liz Silva knotted the game at two runs apiece with a one-out homer over the center field fence in the seventh inning. Pitcher Amy Vining went the distance for Texas A&M and surrendered just four hits while striking out six. She improved to 18-12 on the year.
OSU's Lauren Bay, a second-team All-Big 12 selection, gave up five hits in 8.1 innings while striking out seven. She fell to 15-13.
The Aggies advance to play top-seeded Oklahoma tonight at 6. The Cowgirls will face Missouri in an elimination game at 3 p.m.
