OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Iowa State pulled the first upset of the 2000 Big 12 Softball Tournament by ousting Baylor, 6-3, at Don Porter ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The 10th-seeded Cyclones scored three runs in the second inning and two more in the third to take control of the contest. Lauren Cathey launched her first home run of the year, a two-run blast, in the top of the second to put ISU up 3-0.

Baylor, the tournament's No. 7 seed, reponded with a run in the bottom of the second on a Kelly Fleming solo shot before Cinnamon Gooding's second homer of the year gave the Cyclones a 5-3 lead in the third. Baylor scored a run in the bottom of the third to trim the margin to 5-2, but, despite threatening late in the contest, could not pull closer than three runs.

Baylor stranded nine runners on the basepaths. Pitcher Mandy Loushin pitched a complete game for Iowa State, giving up two earned runs on six hits. She struck out three and walked three while upping her record to 3-8.
