NORMAN, Okla. -- - The University of Oklahoma softball team swept a doubleheader against NAIA powerhouse Oklahoma City University tonight at the OU Softball Complex, winning the first game, 6-0, and taking the second, 1-0. The Sooners move to 53-6 overall with the two victories. OCU dropped to 47-11 on the season.

In the opening game, the Sooners tallied 11 hits, while holding the Stars to two. Junior second baseman LaKisha Washington led the way with a grand slam home run in the second inning. The long ball was her second of the season and the fourth in her career. OU added two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Shortstop Leah Gulla nailed a solo homer over the fence in left field, her fourth of the season, and leftfielder Christy Ring doubled, knocking in Washington for the final run of the game.

Pitcher Jennifer Stewart picked up her 26th win and 12th shutout of the season. The sophomore struck out three OCU batters, while walking only one. Freshman Lindsey Voss took the loss for the Stars, falling to 21-6 on the year.

The second game remained scoreless through four full innings, before the Sooners managed to score a runner in the bottom of the fifth. Gulla walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Washington and to third as Ring grounded out. Centerfielder Erin Evans, who made several spectacular plays in the two games, singled up the middle to score Gulla for the game's lone run.

Senior hurler Lana Moran had one of her best outings of the season, giving up only three hits and striking out a season-high nine batters on the way to her 21st victory of the year. Moran did not walk a single batter in the seven-inning shutout. OCU's Sonia Ortiz dropped to 22-5 with the defeat.

Catcher Ashli Barrett doubled in both games. The junior leads the team in doubles (17) and home run (16).
