Sooner Track Duo Ties For Third In Pole Vault At Waco

WACO, Texas - Brett Corlett and Hal Conover tied for third in the pole vault as the Sooner track and field teams opened competition in the Michael Johnson/SW Bell Classic at Hart/Patterson Track and Field Complex on Friday.

Both cleared 15-0 to tie for third place.

Brandon DeKock finished third in the hammer with a throw of 132-3. Cecil Rose finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 9:39.10, a season best for the sophomore from Missouri City, Texas. It also marked his career best in the event. Sean Culp finished eighth with a time of 10:11.38.

The other Sooners who competed today were in a distance event as well. Mindy Mizell finished 14th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:37.43 and Sarah Harvey finished 15th in the same event with a 10:39.80.

Action resumes at 9 a.m. on Saturday with field event finals starting the day. Running preliminaries will begin at noon with running finals set to start at 6 p.m. The final event of the meet will be the men's mile relay which is scheduled for 8:35 p.m.
