NORMAN, Okla. -- - The Oklahoma softball team shut out Texas Tech today, 5-0, at the OU Softball Complex in front more than 450 fans on Alumni Day. The sixth-ranked Sooners upped their season record to 47-6 and moved to 11-1 in the conference. The Red Raiders dropped to 14-29 overall and 3-5 in the Big 12.

The Sooners scored five runs on eight hits while allowing Texas Tech only three hits in seven innings. Through four-and-one-half innings, there was no score in the ball game. To lead off the bottom of the fifth, second baseman LaKisha Washington tripled to right field and then came home on a double by leftfielder Christy Ring. Ring advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a Lisa Carey single up the middle to give the Sooners a 2-0 lead.

To start the sixth, Texas Tech's Amanda Renfro hit Sooner catcher Ashli Barrett with a pitch. Sophomore Macey Wilson entered the game to run for Barrett and then went to second as Mandy Fulton grounded out to third base. Centerfielder Erin Evans knocked a single, moving Wilson to third. Just after Evans stole second base, Washington smacked a home run over the fence in right-center field to account for the 5-0 final score. The long ball was the junior's first of the season, and just the third of her career.

Evans and Carey both enjoyed 2-for-3 outings for the Sooners.

Oklahoma hurler Jennifer Stewart struck out five and walked none in her second shutout victory in as many days. The sophomore upped her season record to 24-5. Renfro, who has pitched four no-hitters this season, fell to 11-17 on the year. She totaled three strikeouts and walked three batters in six innings for Texas Tech.
