OU Softball to Open Season Friday in Arlington

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma softball team starts its 2000 season at the Texas-Arlington Isuzu Invitational this Friday through Sunday. OU is ranked No. 8 in the NFCA/USA Today Preseason Poll and is the Big 12 coaches' pick to win the conference.

The Sooners take the field at 9 a.m. on Friday against Kentucky. They face Northeast Louisiana at 11:15 a.m. and then take on Purdue at 3:45 p.m. to finish pool play. All 20 teams will then be placed in the bracket according to how they finish in their individual pool. The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday.

OU opens its home season on Feb. 23 in a doubleheader against Arkansas.
