NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma track and field teams will head to Colorado Springs this weekend for a meet that may feature the strongest field of the season. Field events begin at noon on Saturday with the first action on the track set to begin at 1 p.m.

This Week's Meet
The meet features Stanford, Colorado State, OU and host Air Force Academy. The Stanford mens team is currently ranked second in the country by Trackwire and Colorado State is ranked 18th. The Sooner men are ranked 12th in the Trackwire poll. The womens team from Stanford is ranked 12th in the country while Colorado State is 20th. The Sooners will be at less than full strength for the meet as the flu will keep some Sooners from competing.

Last Week
Originally scheduled as a triangular, last weeks meet become an unscored dual meet between Oklahoma and Nebraska in Lincoln. North Carolina was unable to attend because of problems caused by the weather in the southeastern part of the country.

Victories by Staneshia Bell, Jennifer Fontenot, Michael Blackwood and the mens 1600-meter relay highlighted the results for the OU in the dual. Bell won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.55 and Fontenot finished with a 54.85 to win the 400-meter dash, her second victory of the indoor season in that event. Blackwood ran a 47.74 to win his second 400-meter dash in as many weeks. The quartet of LaBoris Bean, Michael Jackson, Raoul Harvey and Ernest Lewis ran a 3:13.50 to win the relay by more than seven seconds. OU senior Katie Webster improved her school record in the weight throw for the second consecutive week. She broke her own record on Jan. 22 with a throw of 50-8 1/4, then finished fourth at Nebraska with a career-best, school-record mark of 52-8.

NCAA Update
Jennifer Fontenot became the second Sooner in two weeks to meet an NCAA provisional standard. Fontenots time in the 400-meter dash, 54.85, beat the provisional standard. Alesha Peel, who finished second in the Husker Dual, beat the provisional mark in the 60-meter hurdles on Jan. 22.
