NORMAN, Okla. -- - The University of Oklahoma Softball team won its 20th game of the season against Creighton in the last game of the OU/adidas Classic today. The Sooners were a perfect 6-0 on the weekend.
In the 2-0 victory over Creighton, Junior Ashli Barrett highlighted the Sooner offense. The catcher managed two hits in three appearances at the plate and was responsible for both RBIs, including a solo home run in the third inning. Barrett leads the team with five home runs on the season.
Sophomore pitcher Jennifer Stewart moved to 11-1 on the season with the win. Last season's Big 12 Freshman of the Year recorded six strikeouts in seven innings of work. Stewart boasts a 1.05 ERA in 66.2 innings pitched. Oklahoma, ranked seveth nationally, outscored its opponents 37-5in the four-day event. The Sooners have posted shutouts in seven games this season.
OU travels to compete in the NFCA Lead-off Classic in Columbus, Ga., March 5-7. The 24-team field features some of the top softball programs in the country. The Sooners' pool includes Mississippi State, Massachusetts and Stanford.
