NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma softball team picked up two more wins today at the OU/adidas Classic. The Sooners shut out No. 16 Cal-State Fullerton, 8-0, and beat Mississippi, 12-4.
OU exploded in the bottom of the second against Cal-State Fullerton, scoring seven of its eight runs. The Sooners collected six hits while batting through the order. Junior first baseman Andrea Davis went 2-for-2 in the inning with a double and a single. Erin Evans recorded two RBIs.
Pitcher Jennifer Stewart pushed her record to 9-1 on the year with the win over the Titans. The sophomore struck out six batters in five innings.
In its second game, Oklahoma posted 15 hits to Mississippi's five. Third baseman Mandy Fulton, last week's Big 12 Player of the Week, was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. She recorded three singles and a double and scored three runs to lead the Sooner offensive attack. Junior outfielder Jaime White also had two hits in three at bats.
Senior hurler Lana Moran picked up the victory and moved to 4-0 on the season. Moran struck out three batters in five innings of work. Freshman Kourtney Davis finished the final two innings of the game for OU.
Oklahoma continues tournament play Saturday at 1:30 p.m. when it faces Kansas at the OU Softball Complex. The Sooners play again at 4 p.m. against Nicholls State.
