TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team closed out its fall campaign today as it moved from 11th to ninth place in the 15-team field at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Old Memorial Golf Course in Tampa, Fla. After turning in rounds of 303 and 306 yesterday, OU fired a 295 today to record its fourth top-10 finish this fall with 904 strokes (+40). North Florida outdistanced Auburn by three strokes to take team honors.
The Sooners were paced by sophomore J.D. Robertson, who shot a closing-round 75 (+3) to tie for 15th with a score of 222. Senior Chris James turned in a 73, his best effort during the two-day event to finish with 224 (+8) strokes overall and in a tie for 25th. Junior Kelsey Cline scored a 73 as well, also a tournament best, to tie for 26th (225, +9). Competing in his second tournament on the season, senior Cooper Johnson finished in a tie for 60th with a final-round 76 (235, +19). Freshman John Kidwell rounded out the list of OU competitors as he posted a final-day 74 (238, +22) to finish 65th.
Oklahoma's spring season begins Feb. 23-25, as the Sooners travel to Honolulu, Hawaii, for the John Burns Intercollegiate.
