Sooners Set to Host Ohio State, Air Force on Saturday Night

THE MEET

No. 2 Oklahoma plays host to No. 3 Ohio State and No. 13 Air Force at McCasland Field House on Saturday. The tri-meet is set to begin with introductions at 5:45 p.m. and the first routine at 6 p.m. Doors open at 4:45 p.m., and admission is free.

PROMOTIONS

• Saturday's meet is Cleveland & Alumni Night, featuring a pre-meet petting zoo and an OU t-shirt giveaway.

• OU's annual Cleveland Night meet features students and families from Norman's Cleveland Elementary School.

• The 2016 national championship team, 2026 CGA Hall of Fame electee Jake Dalton and OU alumni will be recognized Saturday night.

• Fans can take advantage of a happy hour promotion before the meet, featuring $2 beer, soda and popcorn from 4:45-6:00 p.m.

• There will also be a t-shirt toss, socks for sticks and an ice cream giveaway for the loudest fan of the meet, as well as a youth gymnastics exhibition.

• Admission to all Oklahoma men's gymnastics home meets during the 2026 season is free.

STICKS

• Following Saturdays meet, Oklahoma takes a break in the team schedule with an off week next weekend, followed by USA Gymnastics Winter Cup, which will be held Feb. 21-22 in Louisville, Ky.

• Oklahoma's only defeat inside McCasland Field House since the 2007 season was in the 2024 MPSF Championship when OU finished second to Stanford. Oklahoma is unbeaten against its last 77 regular season opponents, encompassing 65 consecutive regular season meets, inside McCasland Field House, dating back to the 2007 season. The streak began on March 17, 2007, with a victory over Iowa. OU's last regular-season loss in the field house was March 3, 2007, against Ohio State. Oklahoma and Stanford also tied in a dual meet in McCasland Field House during the 2021 season.

• Oklahoma is one of only two programs nationally to score at least 320.000 in each of its meets so far this season (the other is No. 1 Stanford). Michigan is the only other program to score 320.000 or higher in a meet this season (once, in OU's 321.850 to 320.650 win in Ann Arbor on Jan. 24).

• Redshirt senior Fuzzy Benas was named the CGA national Specialist of the Week and MPSF conference Specialist of the Week following his performance in OU's win over Greenville. Benas claimed the high bar and parallel bars titles, posting a 14.050 and a 13.500 with stuck dismounts on both events. Redshirt junior Leo Koike also won MPSF conference Gymnast of the Week following his performance in OU's win over Greenville where he competed in four events in his season debut, scoring 14.150 on vault, 13.650 on floor exercise, 13.100 on horizontal bar and 13.100 on parallel bars.

• Fuzzy Benas, Sasha Bogonosiuk and Nathan Roman are set to compete 2026 Winter Cup, along with alumnus Yul Moldauer and future Sooner Hunter Simpson. Signee Dante Reive, who is qualified, is not expected to compete. Winter Cup will be held Feb. 21-22 in Louisville, Ky.

• Mark Williams is in his 27th season as Oklahoma head coach. He has led the Sooners to 617 victories (618-61-1 [.909]), nine national championships and 20 MPSF conference titles since his first season in 2000.

• Senior Kelton Christiansen and fifth-year senior Brigham Frentheway were selected as senior captains for the 2026 season as voted by their teammates.

NATIONAL RANKINGS NOTES

• Oklahoma is No. 2 in the Week 4 national rankings with an average team score of 321.933. The Sooners rank just behind No. 1 Stanford (322.433), while No. 3 Ohio State (315.217), No. 4 Michigan (314.950) and No. 5 Penn State (314.813) round out the top five. Rankings are based on the average of a team's scores this season.

• OU holds first place on pommel horse (54.367) and high bar (52.900). The Sooners rank second on floor exercise (53.617) and parallel bars (53.500), while ranking fourth on vault (55.200) and fifth on still rings (52.350).

• Freshman Sasha Bogonosiuk is tied for fourth on floor exercise (13.925), redshirt sophomore Arthur Ballon ranks sixth (13.700) and redshirt junior Leo Koike ranks eighth (13.650). Senior Ignacio Yockers ranks fifth on pommel horse (14.067), while sophomore Colby Aranda sits seventh (14.025).

• Sophomore Francisco Velez Belendez ranks seventh on still rings (13.725), and junior Tas Hajdu is 10th (13.500). Junior Tyler Flores ranks fourth on vault (14.250) after his season debut, Bogonosiuk is seventh (14.175) and Koike ranks eighth (14.150).

• Freshman Nathan Roman leads the nation on parallel bars with a 14.175. Senior Kelton Christiansen ranks second on high bar (13.975), while redshirt junior Brandon Zepeda-Orth is tied for sixth (13.775). Bogonosiuk also ranks third in the all-around (79.650).

LAST TIME OUT

• Redshirt senior Fuzzy Benas won two event titles as the No. 1 Oklahoma men's gymnastics team swept all seven individual titles on its way to a 320.000 to 305.650 home-opening win over No. 10 Greenville Sunday afternoon at McCasland Field House.

• Benas claimed the parallel bars title with his 13.500 and the horizontal bar title with his stuck 14.050. Redshirt sophomore Arthur Ballon won the floor exercise title with a 13.700, senior Ignacio Yockers claimed the pommel horse title with a 14.350, fifth-year senior Brigham Frentheway took the still rings title with a 13.350 and junior Tyler Flores won vault with a 14.250. Junior Colin Flores, the only all-around competitor in the meet, registered a total of 77.000.

• OU swept all six team events, posting a 53.700 on floor exercise, 54.300 on pommel horse, 50.850 on still rings, 55.300 on vault, 52.650 on parallel bars and 53.200 on high bar.

• Junior Nico Hamilton and redshirt junior Leo Koike tied for third on floor exercise with a 13.650. Redshirt junior Mac Seyler earned second on pommel horse with a season-high 13.950. Seyler also tied for second on still rings with a 12.950, while Koike earned second on vault with a 14.150.

HISTORY AND TRADITION

• Oklahoma has won 12 national championships (1977, '78, '91, 2002, '03, '05, '06, '08, '15, '16, '17, '18), tied for most in NCAA history (tied with Penn State), including nine national titles since 2000. The Sooners have finished first or second in 19 of the last 23 NCAA Championships, and has reached 25 consecutive NCAA finals, or every championship held since 2000 (does not count the 2020 championship canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic). OU has finished among the top 3 in 23 of the last 24 NCAA Championships held, dating back to the 2001 season.

• Mark Williams has led Oklahoma to nine national titles over the course of his 26 seasons as head coach of the Sooners. OU won an NCAA championship held in Norman three times: 2002, 2006 and 2015.

• The Sooners last won an NCAA championship in 2018 in Chicago, Ill., capping a run of four consecutive national titles (2015-18), then claimed second place in three straight championships: 2019, '21 and '22.
