NORMAN – Redshirt senior Fuzzy Benas won two event titles as the No. 1 Oklahoma men's gymnastics team swept all seven individual titles on its way to a 320.000 to 305.650 home-opening win over No. 10 Greenville Sunday afternoon at McCasland Field House.
Benas claimed the parallel bars title with his 13.500 and the horizontal bar title with his stuck 14.050. Redshirt sophomore Arthur Ballon won the floor exercise title with a 13.700, senior Ignacio Yockers claimed the pommel horse title with a 14.350, fifth-year senior Brigham Frentheway took the still rings title with a 13.350 and junior Tyler Flores won vault with a 14.250. Junior Colin Flores, the only all-around competitor in the meet, registered a total of 77.000.
OU swept all six team events, posting a 53.700 on floor exercise, 54.300 on pommel horse, 50.850 on still rings, 55.300 on vault, 52.650 on parallel bars and 53.200 on high bar.
"I was pleased with the depth that we had," Oklahoma head coach Mark Williams said. "We gave more guys opportunities, and they competed well. We almost scored the same as last weekend with a completely different lineup, so overall, I was very pleased with our effort today."
Junior Nico Hamilton and redshirt junior Leo Koike tied for third on floor exercise with a 13.650. Redshirt junior Mac Seyler earned second on pommel horse with a season-high 13.950. Seyler also tied for second on still rings with a 12.950, while Koike earned second on vault with a 14.150.
Tyler Flores tied for third on parallel bars with a 13.250. The Sooners swept the top three spots on high bar, with Hamilton earning second (13.450) and Koike placing third (13.100).
