Chavez's five weekly honors are the second most in program history, trailing only Courtney Paris, who earned nine during her debut season. The total also ranks fifth in SEC history, with the league record held by Rhyne Howard (eight).
Chavez averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two victories that extended Oklahoma's winning streak to 13 games, the second-longest run in program history. In her SEC debut at Texas A&M, the freshman scored 20 points on 44 percent shooting while adding seven rebounds, six assists and two steals for her sixth 20-point game of the season. She is the only Power Five freshman to record that stat line this season and one of just two SEC freshmen to do so over the past five years. Chavez followed with another efficient outing against Mississippi State, totaling 18 points, six rebounds and three assists in a 95-47 win.
The unanimous 2025 national prep player of the year and the top-ranked recruit in the country by multiple outlets, Chavez leads all true freshmen in scoring at 18.9 points per game and has recorded six 20-point performances, the most among all true freshmen. She is one of only five players nationally — and the only freshman — averaging at least 18.9 points, 4.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game, placing her on pace to join Hannah Hidalgo, Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark as the only freshmen since 2009 to reach those benchmarks.
Chavez and the Sooners begin a four-game stretch against ranked opponents on Thursday when they host No. 18 Ole Miss at Lloyd Noble Center at 6 p.m., followed by a top-10 matchup Sunday at No. 6 Kentucky.
