NORMAN – The No. 15 Oklahoma wrestling team (7-1, 0-0 Big 12) will head up I-35 on Sunday, Jan. 11, to take on No. 5 Oklahoma State (8-1, 3-0 Big 12) in the 190th edition of Bedlam wrestling. First bout is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Sunday's contest will air on ESPN+.

SOONER QUICK HITTERS

In its last outing, Oklahoma hosted its second quad dual in as many years, earning an unblemished 3-0 record with victories over Tarleton State, SIUE and Duke. The Sooners outscored their opponents 104-28 on the day.

Oklahoma enters the weekend riding a seven-dual winning streak. The Sooners' 7-1 record matches the program's best start through eight duals since the 2013-14 season. OU's premier win came Dec. 13, when it knocked off No. 12 Rutgers at Jersey Mike's Arena in Piscataway, N.J. Oklahoma rallied from a 14-6 deficit to stun the Scarlet Knights, 19-14, marking the program's highest-ranked dual win since 2015.

The Sooners put forth a strong showing at the 44th Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 5-6, where redshirt sophomore Carter Schubert captured the 174-pound title and three additional Sooners earned podium finishes. Schubert became OU's first CKLV champion since 2013. As a team, Oklahoma totaled 80.5 points to finish sixth, marking the program's highest placement at the event since 2015. Schubert was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for his performance, becoming OU's second weekly honoree of the season alongside DJ Parker (Nov. 26).

BEDLAMĀ HISTORY

The two historic programs have met nearly every year since 1920 and were named the greatest (OSU) and fourth greatest (OU) wrestling programs in history by the NCAA (2016). The term "Bedlam" originated from the rowdy wrestling matches between the two schools and then grew to accompany all sports.

Sunday's dual marks the 190th meeting between the programs and the first top-15 matchup since 2016. OU trails the all-time series with a 27-152-10 career record against the Cowboys.

The sides have produced a combined 770 All-Americans, 212 individual national champions, 61 Olympians and 41 team national championships — all marks are more than any other rivalry in the country.

FAMILIAR RIVALRY, FRESH BOUTS

Despite the teams facing off last season, at least seven of the 10 bouts on Sunday will feature first-time matchups between the two sides.

At 125 pounds, Oklahoma State's No. 7 Troy Spratley holds a 2-0 career record against Oklahoma's No. 24 Conrad Hendriksen. At 184, the Cowboys' No. 10 Zack Ryder is 1-0 against No. 11 Brian Soldano after topping Soldano, 4-2, at the Black Knight Invite last season while Ryder competed for Penn State and Soldano for Rutgers. At heavyweight, Oklahoma State's No. 7 Konner Doucet and Oklahoma's No. 23 Juan Mora met at the 2024 Southern Scuffle, where Doucet earned a 2-1 tiebreaker (TB-2) victory.

Eight of the 20 projected starters in Sunday's dual (five for Oklahoma; three for Oklahoma State) made their team debuts this season after transferring from other Division I programs. Oklahoma State's projected lineup also includes four true freshmen.

RUNNING THE GAUNTLET

Oklahoma has positioned itself to face one of the nation's toughest schedules in 2025-26. Beyond its seasonopening road contest at No. 1 and four-time defending national champion Penn State, the Sooners have eight duals scheduled against teams currently ranked in the NWCA Coaches' Top 25 — five of which will take place on the road. In total, OU will face three top-five opponents, five ranked inside the top 20 and eight in the top 25. The Sooners also competed at the prestigious Cliff Keen Invitational, widely regarded as the premier regularseason tournament in college wrestling.
