• No. 9/9 Oklahoma dominated at home on Sunday, defeating Maryland Eastern Shore 90-37 in Norman. The Sooners have now won eight straight games, one win shy of the longest winning streak under head coach Jennie Baranczyk. The Sooners scored first and never trailed, earning their fourth wire-to-wire victory this season.
• Oklahoma held UMES to a Baranczyk-era low 17.9% shooting (10 of 56 FG), the second-lowest opponent field goal percentage in program history, trailing only a 17.8% performance by Henderson State in 2004. The Hawks' 10 made field goals are tied for the fewest by a Sooner opponent this season (Western Carolina also had 10) and mark the second-fewest allowed in a game in OU history.
• The Sooners scored 90 points, snapping their program-record-setting streak of 100 point games at four. During its active eight-game winning streak, OU is scoring 98.4 points per game with a margin of victory of 37.8. Oklahoma has now scored 90 or more six times this season and on 17 occasions since the start of last season, the second most in the country. Six different Sooners scored in double figures for the second time this season (also vs. Florida State): Payton Verhulst (16), Aaliyah Chavez (14), Sahara Williams (13), Raegan Beers (13), Caya Smith (12), and Brooklyn Stewart (10).
NOTABLES
• True freshman Aaliyah Chavez continued her standout start by earning USBWA National Freshman of the Week, SEC Freshman of the Week, NCAA Starting Five of the Week recognition and AP National Player of the Week honorable mention on Tuesday. She scored 33 points – the most by any freshman nationally this season – in the win over No. 25 NC State and averaged 23.5 points and 4.0 assists in two Sooner victories. Chavez has now collected three SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
• OU's defense has become one of the nation's most disruptive. The Sooners rank eighth nationally in opponent field goal percentage (31.4%), holding teams 11.6% below their season shooting average and 11.1 points fewer than their typical scoring output. OU also sits 11th in blocks per game (6.5) and 30th in steals per game (12.1). Most recently, the Sooners held Maryland Eastern Shore to 17.9% shooting – the second-lowest opponent mark in program history. OU's defensive rating of 76.9 ranks 22nd nationally.
• OU held steady at No. 9 in Monday's AP Top 25 poll and checked in at No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, marking its longest run inside the top 10 (six weeks) since the 2009-10 season. The Sooners have now appeared in the AP Top 25 for 35 consecutive weeks, the eighth-longest active streak nationally and the fourth-longest in program history, and their 27 straight weeks inside the AP top 20 is tied with North Carolina for the seventh-longest active run in the country.
• Oklahoma is scoring 93.0 points per game (4th NCAA) with 20.2 assists (11th NCAA). The Sooners play fast – third in adjusted pace at 80.0 possessions/game – and rank top 10 in fast-break points (20.6, 5th NCAA), paint points (45.0, 8th NCAA) and second-chance points (17.5, 6th NCAA). Ball security has taken a major step forward with a 13.8% turnover rate (11th NCAA) and a 1.50 assist-to-turnover ratio (14th NCAA).
• Oklahoma remains the queen of the double-double. Courtney Paris set the NCAA standard with 112 straight during her legendary career, and now Raegan Beers is carrying the torch, leading all active Division I players with 52 career double-doubles. Her performance against Florida State on Nov. 30 made her just the second Sooner ever – alongside Paris – to record five consecutive double-doubles in a season, and the streak actively sits at six entering Sunday. Beers' five 20-point double-doubles this season are the most in the country.
The Sooners and Trojans have met eight times, but Thursday marks the first meeting since Baranczyk arrived in Norman. OU holds a 6-2 all-time series advantage, but Little Rock won the most recent meeting 68-56 in 2017. The Sooners are 5-0 against the Trojans at Lloyd Noble Center.
The Sooners face their second ranked opponent of the season on Saturday, Dec. 13, when they take on No. 23 Oklahoma State at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, renewing the Bedlam rivalry after a one-year hiatus.
Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT on ESPNU. The meeting marks the programs' first ranked matchup since February 2016. OU is 6-0 against the Cowgirls under head coach Jennie Baranczyk and owns a 69-47 lead in the all-time series.
