AMES, Iowa – A fast start for Oklahoma had the Sooners out in front after the opening bout, but No. 13 Iowa State (8-3, 3-0 Big 12) controlled the dual down the stretch to claim a 23-6 win on Friday night inside Hilton Coliseum.
The No. 22 Sooners (6-3, 2-3 Big 12) were victorious at 125 and 285 pounds, but ultimately were downed by the defending Big 12 Champions.
The opening bout of the night was No. 29
Antonio Lorenzo's (11-6) matchup with sophomore Ethan Perryman. As has become a staple of his matches this season, Lorenzo came out with a conservative approach to feel out his opponent. He landed his first shot with a minute left in the third period that propelled him to a 5-2 decision for his sixth dual win of the season.
No. 26
Juan Mora (9-4) continues to impress in his first season as a starter for the crimson and cream. The heavyweight was the aggressor throughout his bout against No. 23 Daniel Herrera and finally got his reward in the final period where he secured a takedown in closing seconds to nab a 4-2 decision. Mora tallied his team-leading fourth ranked win of the season after the final whistle.
At 133 pounds, No. 22
Cleveland Belton dropped a 9-0 major decision to 2024 All-American and fifth-ranked Evan Frost. OU's No. 19
Mosha Schwartz was defeated by No. 13 Jacob Frost (Dec. 10-4) in the 141-pound bout.
Wrestling at 149, No. 13
Willie McDougald suffered a 4-2 decision loss to No. 11 Paniro Johnson in the most anticipated bout of the evening.
At 157, Oklahoma' freshman
Layton Schneider made his dual debut for the Sooners. Despite wrestling with a lot of energy from the jump, the Edmond North product was downed by Kane Naaktgeboren, 8-3. The Cyclones' Aiden Riggins topped No. 30
Tate Picklo by a 7-3 decision in the 165 match, while No. 23 MJ Gaitan of ISU knocked off No. 8
Gaven Sax 7-2 at 174.

Eli Cordy was the second Sooner of the night to rep an OU singlet in a dual for the first time. The redshirt freshman remained in striking distance until the final frame before dropping to No.12 Evan Bockman, 7-4. Nate Schon captured ISU's last win of the evening, defeating
Bradley Hill 14-7 at 197.
The Sooners will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Cedar Falls to take on No. 5 Northern Iowa (9-1, 3-1 Big 12) on Saturday night. First bout from the McLeod Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
