MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Oklahoma volleyball team had its five-match win streak snapped Friday night, falling 25-23, 25-18, 25-23 to UC Santa Barbara at the K-State Invitational.
The Sooners (5-2) return to action against K-State on Sunday at 4 p.m. on ESPNU.
Alexis Shelton led the Sooners with her third double-double of the season, notching 11 kills and 10 digs while adding four blocks.
Leah Wilton-LaBoy dished out 25 assists and added eight digs and two blocks.
Kamille Gibson added eight kills, while the defense combined for 8.0 blocks.
The first set was a back-and-forth battle to the end. Down 23-22, a kill from Shelton tied the match before UCSB capitalized on a pair of Sooner errors to take the set, 25-23.
UCSB jumped out to a big lead in the second set and cruised to a 25-18 win. The Gauchos hit .300, while holding the Sooners to just a .147 hitting percentage.
The Sooners held a 7-6 lead in the third before UCSB took a commanding 17-9 lead on an 11-2 run. USCB would complete the sweep with a 25-23 win.
