Randall Wins Junior Greco-Roman Championship, Braun Finishes as Runner Up

FARGO, N.D. — Oklahoma wrestling incoming freshman Jude Randall won the 157-pound title while Alex Braun finished as the 138-pound runner-up at the at the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Greco-Roman Junior Nationals on Saturday night.

Randall, a graduate of Edmond North High School, went 7-0 with five tech falls to claim first place. Competing as the No. 2 seed, Randall opened the tournament with tech fall wins in 0:20 and 0:39. He continued his dominant run to the finals with a 9-4 win over the No. 7 seed and two more tech falls, including a 0:42 tech fall win in the semifinals over the eventual third place finisher, Tucker Roybal (Utah). In the finals, Randall faced top-ranked Brett Back (Wisconsin) and came away with a 4-3 win.

Saturday marked Randall's third Greco All-American finish after placing sixth last year and fourth in 2021 (16U).

Braun, the No. 1 seed, got on a roll that started with a defeat of Talon Davis (Colorado) in the round of 128. He tallied up 14 and nine points in victories in the following rounds over Darrell Nanpuya (Washington) and No. 32 Toby Shipman (Oklahoma) to move to the round of 16. The Minnesota native notched three straight tech falls en route to his championship match, where he was ultimately defeated by Landon Drury (Colorado), 8-0.

Braun ends his high school career as a three-time Fargo All-American. He placed seventh in Greco at 145 pounds last year.

Jacob Henry (285) narrowly missed All-American status. After being unseeded, the Texas native sprung a duo of upsets – including toppling the No. 10 and No. 7 seeds.
