Men's Hoops Hosts BYU on Tuesday

NORMAN – RV/RV Oklahoma men's basketball hosts No. 21/19 BYU on Tuesday, Feb. 6. Tip is at 7:01 p.m. CT inside Lloyd Noble Center. The Big 12 conference contest will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network  (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing and be broadcast by ESPN+ with Mark Neely (PxP) and King McClure (analyst) on the call.

FOR THE FANS

•  University of Oklahoma students can attend all 2023-24 men's basketball games for free. Students need to show their ID at the lower north entrance at Lloyd Noble Center.  

•  Fans can purchase $2 concessions (small popcorn, 12 oz beer or 16 oz soda) at select concession stands at Lloyd Noble Center.

OPENING TIP

•  Oklahoma is ranked 32nd (games through 2/4) overall and eighth in the Big 12 in the NET. Ten Big 12 teams are in the top 40. BYU is seventh overall and second in the conference.

•   Junior Javian McCollum ranks eighth among active career leaders in free throw percentage (88.9%). In 72 career games, McCollum has made 193 free throws in 217 attempts. Senior Sam Godwin is 10th among NCAA DI active career leaders in field goal percentage, making 64.3% (247-384) of his shots.

•  Junior Jalon Moore tallied his second double-double of the season at UCF, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The 11 boards matched his career high set early this season at Kansas.

•   Moore scored a career-high 23 points and added nine rebounds in OU's 73-53 victory at K-State. McCollum tallied 21 points in the Sooners' second Big 12 road victory.

LAST TIME OUT

•  Oklahoma fell to UCF 74-63 at Addition Financial Arena on Saturday afternoon. Senior Le'Tre Darthard scored a team-high 14 points and buried four 3-pointers. Junior Jalon Moore tallied his second double-double of the season, finishing with 11 rebounds and 10 points. Senior Rivaldo Soares added 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting.

•  UCF outscored the Sooners 11-5 to end the first half and entered the break up 34-27. After a slashing layup by UCF's Jones, sophomore Milos Uzan knocked down his lone three, cutting the deficit to 36-32. The Knights strung together an 8-2 run, capping the spurt with a pair of free throws by Ibrahim Diallo. 

•  Sophomore Otega Oweh cut the UCF advantage to 44-36 with 15:52 left before the Knights buried four consecutive free throws, pushing its lead back to double digits. UCF continued its strong shooting performance and never let its lead dip below 10 for the final 15:20.  

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Oklahoma holds a 75-27 record at Lloyd Noble Center since 2017. The Sooners have won 82.9% (608-127) of their games at LNC since the building opened in 1975. OU's winning percentage at Lloyd Noble Center is second in the Big 12 only to Kansas' 87.9% at Allen Fieldhouse (852-117).

RANKING SUMMARY (2/5)

•  Oklahoma ranks in the top 60 nationally in six categories. The Sooners are fifth in three-point percentage defense (28.2%), 36th in scoring margin (11.3 PPG), 36th in field goal percentage defense (40.5%), 39th in rebound margin (5.8 RPG), 49th in scoring defense (66.3 PPG), and 54th in field goal percentage (47.3%).

•   Javian McCollum is eighth in NCAA DI and first in the Big 12 in free throw percentage (91.8%). Sam Godwin is 32nd nationally and first in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (3.2 RPG). Milos Uzan is 62nd in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5), 79th in assists (99) and 86th in assists per game (4.5 APG). Otega Oweh is 86th in NCAA DI in steals (39).

SOPHOMORE SEASON

Otega Oweh appeared in 28 games and made nine starts in 2022-23, tallying 134 points, 59 rebounds and 33 steals. In 22 games this season, Oweh has recorded 287 points, 94 rebounds and 39 steals. The Newark, N.J., product has buried 17 of his 36 (47.2%) 3-pointers, improving on his one made triple last season. Oweh has recorded 16 10-plus point games this season.

NO GO FROM DEEP

Oklahoma has not allowed 10 made 3-pointers in 43 consecutive games. The last opponent to accomplish the task was Central Arkansas (11 for 34) on Dec. 17, 2022. The Sooners' streak in conference play is 47 straight games. Kansas State was the last opponent to make 10-plus threes (11 for 22) on Jan. 1, 2022.

NOTHING BUT NET (2/4)

Oklahoma is 32nd in the NET and eighth in the Big 12 conference. The Sooners are 2-4 in quad one, 4-2 in quad two, 2-0 in quad three and 8-0 in quad four games.
