McCollum's Buzzer-Beating Three Lifts Sooners Past Cowboys

Sooners Earn the Bedlam Sweep
STILLWATER, Okla. – Junior Javian McCollum buried the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired and -/RV Oklahoma earned the 84-82 overtime victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
McCollum finished with 14 points, including two important 3-pointers that fueled the Oklahoma comeback. Senior Rivaldo Soares, who missed the last game with an ankle injury, provided a much-needed spark off the bench, adding a team-high 20 points on 7-for-9 shooting. Soares drained three of the Sooners' seven-made triples.
Down 38-30 at halftime, Oklahoma rallied in the second half, outscoring the Cowboys 42-34.
McCollum narrowed the deficit to one after his first made triple of the contest with 4:08 left in regulation. OSU's Eric Daily Jr. put the Cowboys back up three with a layup before the Sooners captured their first lead of the half with back-to-back baskets by junior Jalon Moore and sophomore Otega Oweh.
Down 70-69, OSU's Javon Small scored on a driving layup, giving the Cowboys the one-point advantage. Soares answered with a layup and reached the line on OU's next trip down the floor, making one of his two free throw attempts.
Small knotted the score at 72-all with 42 seconds left and had an opportunity to close the door at the line, but his first attempt rattled out with 13 seconds remaining.
Sophomore Milos Uzan tallied the first points in the overtime period before the two programs traded blows, tying the score three times over the next three minutes.
After two made free throws by OSU's Quion Williams, Oweh drove to the rim and put the Sooners up 81-79 with 1:51 left. Oklahoma State's John-Michael Wright buried a corner three with 1:28 left, sending GIA into a frenzy.
OSU had two chances to seal the Bedlam victory after an Oklahoma turnover, but both shot attempts were unsuccessful. Junior Jalon Moore pulled down one of his team-high 14 rebounds with 21 seconds left, setting up the final play by McCollum.
Moore recorded his second double-double in the Crimson & Cream, finishing with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Oweh recorded 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting and pulled down three boards. Uzan added 14 points, two rebounds and two assists.
