NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma soccer team visits No. 22 Texas for the first-ever Southeastern Conference edition of the Red River Rivalry on Thursday. First touch is set for 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
OU dropped a 2-0 home result to (RV) Georgia last Friday. The Sooners out-shot UGA 13-11 on the evening, including a 10-4 second half margin, but placed just four of their 13 shots on frame.
• All About Oklahoma: The Sooners are 8-4-1 this season and are tied for 11th in the SEC standings with four conference points.
• Leo Leads the Way: Leonie Weber is seventh in program history with 51 career points and leads OU with six assists and 16 points this fall.
• Oklahoma on the Attack: Oklahoma's attack has produced 32 goals for this fall, currently tied for the seventh-best single-season mark in program history. The program's all-time single-season record is 37 goals for, recorded in the 2005 and 2010 campaigns.
• Defensive Dominance: Oklahoma's defense impressed in non-conference play, limiting opponents to just five goals on 5.00 shots per match.
• Back Line Standouts: Caroline Duffy owns a 75.8% save rate while the group of Meredith King, Cassie Clifton, Cailey England and Andie Wolfe have logged 92.0% of the available backline minutes.
• Historic Helpers: Alexis Washington is one assist from breaking Oklahoma's career record of 18 held by Lauren MacIver. Leonie Weber needs one of her own to tie Washington and MacIver for the program's career mark.
• Oh Captain, Our Captain: Cailey England is Oklahoma's new leader in career starts (85), breaking Rachel Ressler and Madeline Brem's program record with her start vs. Georgia last Sunday. She also ranks third in career minutes played (7,325), just two minutes from second (Kelsey Devonshire) and 125 shy of Brem's OU-record 7,450.
• 2024 Outlook: The Sooners were selected 13th in the 2024 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, sharing the rank with Florida. Five athletes were named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist as forwards Hadley Murrell, Alexis Washington and Leonie Weber, midfielder Cailey England and defender Andie Wolfe earned league recognition.
• OU x SEC: OU Soccer embarks on its inaugural season in the SEC this fall and enjoyed the honor of playing Oklahoma's first regular season event as a league member (Aug. 15 at North Texas) as well as the university's first SEC league game (Sept. 19 vs. Mississippi State).
