Oklahoma Welcomes Georgia to John Crain Field

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma soccer teamĀ hosts (RV) Georgia Friday for a Southeastern Conference match John Crain Field. First touch is set for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+.

OU drew 2-2 with Kentucky last Sunday, earning a key SEC point to remain in the hunt for a conference tournament berth. Sophia Green and Leonie Weber each scored a goal while Alexis Washington tied the program's all-time assist record with her 18th career helper.

The Sooners begin a pivotal stretch of their conference season this Friday as each of their next three opponents are ranked or receiving votes. (Georgia - RV, Texas - No. 22, Arkansas - No. 1)

• All About Oklahoma:Ā The Sooners are off to an 8-3-1 start to the 2024 season and are tied for 10th in the SEC standings with four conference points.

• Home Sweet Home:Ā OU is 5-1-1Ā at home this fall, outscoring opponents 26-7Ā across sevenĀ tilts at JCF.

• Leo Leads the Way:Ā Leonie WeberĀ is seventh in program history with 51 career points and leads OU with six assists and 16 points this fall.

• Defensive Dominance:Ā Oklahoma's defense impressed in non-conference play, limiting opponents to just five goals on 5.00 shots per match.Ā Caroline Duffy owns a 76.8% save rate while the group of Meredith King, Cassie Clifton, Cailey England and Andie Wolfe have logged 93.6% of the available backline minutes.

• Historic Helpers:Ā Alexis Washington is one assist from breaking Oklahoma's career record of 18 held by Lauren MacIver. Leonie Weber needs one of her own to tie Washington and MacIver for the program's career mark.

• Oh Captain, Our Captain:Ā Cailey EnglandĀ has moved into a tie for first all-time in career starts at OU (84) and will break Rachel Ressler and Madeline Brem's program record with her next start. She also ranks third in career minutes played (7,235), just 215 shy of Brem's OU-record 7,450.

• 2024 Outlook:Ā The Sooners were selected 13th in the 2024 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, sharing the rank with Florida.Ā Five athletes were named to the SEC Preseason Watchlist as forwardsĀ Hadley Murrell,Ā Alexis WashingtonĀ andĀ Leonie Weber, midfielderĀ Cailey EnglandĀ and defenderĀ Andie WolfeĀ earned league recognition.

• OU x SEC:Ā OU Soccer embarks on its inaugural season in the SEC this fall.Ā The Sooners have previously faced 11 of their 15 new conference opponents. OU head coachĀ Matt MottĀ owns 20 seasons of SEC experience from stints at Ole Miss and Auburn.
