COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Oklahoma soccer team fell 3-1 at Missouri on Friday evening in Columbia.
Oklahoma (8-7-1, 1-6-1 SEC) outshot the Tigers (5-8-2, 3-4-1 SEC) by a 15-10 margin and continued to put pressure on the Missouri back line throughout the second half but was unable to recover from an early deficit.
Sooner forward
Leonie Weber scored on a penalty kick in the 66th minute, breaking Oklahoma's career record with her fifth goal on penalties.
Missouri scored in the first, 50th and 59th minutes to build a 3-0 advantage prior to Weber's goal.
Weber placed four of her Sooner-leading five shots on target while
Ella Pappas added four shots of her own.
Sophia Green and
Caroline Duffy each placed a shot on frame.
OU battled back from a Tiger goal just 37 seconds into the match, turning up the pace and generating nine first half shots. The shot totals were even at 6-6 in the final 45 minutes.
Weber's goal marked her sixth of the season and the 18th of her career. Her collegiate point total moved to 53 with the second half strike, tying her with Savannah Scott for sixth in program history.
