Soccer Downs Ole Miss 4-1 in Home Finale

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma soccer team kept its postseason aspirations alive with a critical 4-1 win over Ole Miss on Thursday evening at John Crain Field.
Oklahoma (9-7-1, 2-6-1 SEC) drew 1,687 fans in its 2024 home finale, closing the home schedule with a single-season program record 12,000 total attendance. The Sooners held Ole Miss (5-12-1, 0-8-1 SEC) to just three shots on frame and held a 25-8 shots advantage overall.
Senior forward Leonie Weber broke the program's all-time assist record with No. 18 and 19 of her career, producing two assists on the evening. True freshman midfielder Juliette Rayo made her first collegiate start and provided a goal and an assist.
OU keeper Caroline Duffy made a pair of saves to win her ninth match of the fall.
The Sooners struck first in the fourth minute as Andie Wolfe collected a shot from Rayo and launched home a powerful left-footed kick from just inside the goal area. OU held a 1-0 advantage through the break, adding to its lead with a terrific Hadley Murrell one-touch goal off a Weber pass in the 50th minute.
Ole Miss scored a minute later before the Sooners responded with a Rayo penalty kick goal in the 62nd and a fantastic Abigail McNulty header off a corner kick in the 69th.
Michelle Pak led all outfielders with five shots, placing two on frame, while Weber and Murrell each took four shots.
Weber's 19th career assist broke a tie with Alexis Washington and alumna Lauren MacIver for the program's all-time mark.
