OPENING TIP

•  Oklahoma is ranked 34th (games through 1/28) overall and ninth in the Big 12 in the NET. Ten Big 12 teams are in the top 50. Kansas State is 73rd overall and 12th in the conference.

•   Senior Sam Godwin is seventh among NCAA DI active career leaders in field goal percentage, making 65.1% (243-373) of his shots. Junior Javian McCollum ranks eighth among active career leaders in free throw percentage (88.7%). In 71 career games, McCollum has made 180 free throws in 203 attempts.

•  Against Texas Tech, senior Rivaldo Soares recorded his first double-double in the Crimson and Cream, finishing with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. 

•  OU earned its first road true road victory of the season on Saturday, Jan. 20, beating Cincinnati 69-65 at Fifth Third Arena. McCollum scored a team-high 16 points and added six rebounds. Sophomore Otega Oweh added 14 points and redshirt junior John Hugley scored 11 points.

LAST TIME OUT

•  Oklahoma fell to No. 20/21 Texas Tech 85-84 on Saturday afternoon at Lloyd Noble Center. Senior Rivaldo Soares recorded his first double-double as a Sooner, finishing with a team-high 19 points on 6-for-10 shooting, 10 rebounds and four assists. The Boston, Mass., product scored eight points in the final two minutes, including a 3-pointer to put OU up 76-75 with 1:56 left. Senior Sam Godwin finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Otega Oweh added 14 points, six rebounds and a team-best three steals. Sophomore Milos Uzan dished out a team-high five assists and scored 13 points.

•  Despite being down 17-9, OU rallied in the opening frame and held a 30-21 advantage with 3:23. After trading baskets to open the final 20, senior Le'Tre Darthard sparked a 7-0 run with a 3-pointer and Uzan capped the spurt with a layup. The Red Raiders fought back and captured the lead after a trio of layups. Soares' late three briefly gave OU the advantage before TTU's Chance McMillian knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:27 left, putting Texas Tech up for good. 

AP POLL APPEARANCES

•  Oklahoma has appeared in the AP Poll 385 times (30.2%), ranking 22nd all-time. Since the 1984 season, the Sooners have appeared in 48.5% (365 times) of AP Polls with an average rank of 12.1. OU was ranked in the AP top 15 for seven consecutive weeks before the Jan. 29 poll, marking the first time since 2015-16. The 2015-16 Sooners were ranked in the AP top 10 all season.

KANSAS STATE CONNECTIONS

•  Porter Moser led the Loyola Ramblers to the 2018 Final Four and beat Kansas State 78-62 in the Elite Eight. OU assistant coach Clayton Custer tallied seven points and five assists in 36 minutes against the Wildcats.

•  The Sooners beat KSU 117-76 on Jan. 18, 1992, earning the second-largest road victory margin in program history. Four Sooners finished with 20-plus points. Brent Price tallied a team-high 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Jeff Webster finished with a double-double (27 points and 11 rebounds).

•  Former Oklahoma and Kansas State head men's basketball coach Lon Kruger played baseball and basketball at KSU. Kruger guided the Wildcats to back-to-back Big Eight Conference titles as a player in 1972 and 1973 and was named Big Eight Player of the Year in 1973 and 1974. As a head coach, Kruger led KSU (4) and Oklahoma (7) to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances.
