NORMAN - Following a podium finish at the Big 12 Championship and an NCAA Championships berth, OU freshman wrestler Tate Picklo was named to the 2022-23 InterMat All-Freshman national team.

Rotating between 174 pounds and 184 pounds in his first month as a starter, Picklo went on a 10-2 run to begin his 2022-23 campaign. Just one day after making his first collegiate start against Edinboro, Picklo clinched the 174-pound title at the Bobby Kaufman Memorial Open.

At 174 pounds, the Mustang, Okla., product earned back-to-back top-25 wins to rise to No. 20. Two weeks later, Picklo downed No. 13 Cade DeVos of South Dakota State to earn his second top-15 win of the season.

Advancing to the 174-pound semifinals at the Big 12 Championship, Picklo claimed a fifth-place finish to qualify for the NCAA Championships. In his first appearance at NCAAs, Picklo advanced to the third session with a dominating 11-3 major decision in his first wrestlebacks match.

Picklo finished his first season ranked No. 14 at 174 pounds in FloWrestling's standings.
