NORMAN – The Oklahoma volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 22 Houston, 25-16, 25-13, 25-14 Thursday night inside McCasland Field House.
Alexis Shelton recorded double-digit kills for the 19th time this season with 13 on the night, while Taylor Preston added seven.
Payton Chamberlain recorded 23 assists to pace the offense. Callie Kemohah notched 10 digs and Sydney Thompson added seven.
At the first media timeout, the Sooners trailed 15-11. Out of the timeout, the Sooners pulled within two quickly before Houston extended its lead to five. OU would be unable to overcome the deficit, dropping the set 25-16.
Houston took a 4-0 lead early, but the Sooners battled to pull within one at 5-4. At the media timeout, Houston led 15-10 and would not relinquish the lead, taking the set 25-13.
The Cougars took an early 10-5 lead to force an Oklahoma timeout. A 6-2 run by the Cougars would lead to a nine-point advantage. Houston would take the final set 25-14.
The Sooners and Cougars will be back in action Friday night at 6 p.m. inside McCasland Field House.
