Sooners Set for Tuesday Clash at TCU

NORMAN – Oklahoma travels to Fort Worth, Texas for a Tuesday matchup against No. 11/11 TCU. Tip is at 7 p.m. (CT) inside Schollmaier Arena.
Tuesday's game against the Horned Frogs will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Ted Emrich and King McClure on the call. Fans may also listen on the Sooner Sports Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing.
In Oklahoma's last outing, Jalen Hill recorded a team-high 17 points and added nine rebounds. Tanner Groves pitched in 16 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
The Sooners dropped their Big 12 contest against No. 21/22 Baylor 62-60. OU held the potent Baylor offense to 36.2% (21-58) shooting from the field and only six assists.
SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS
Jamie Dixon has compiled a 132-88 record at TCU in seven seasons. Dixon has led the Horned Frogs to a 15-4 record and a 4-3 mark in Big 12 play. In its last outing, TCU earned the 83-60 victory over then-No. 2 Kansas in Lawrence on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Horned Frogs are the only Big 12 team to knock off conference leader Kansas State. TCU beat the Wildcats 82-68 on Saturday, Jan. 14.
Mike Miles leads a trio of double-digit scorers and averages 18.9 points per outing. Miles added 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest. Emanuel Miller pitches in 14.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Damion Baugh scores 12.2 points and dishes out a team-best 5.0 assists per game. Eddie Lampkin pulls down a team-high 6.8 rebounds. Chuck O'Bannon is the only Horned Frog to start all 19 contests.
TCU is ranked in the top 25 in seven NCAA DI categories. The Horned Frogs lead the nation in fast break points (21.1) and ranks 12t in turnover margin (4.7), 16th in scoring margin (12.7), 17th in turnovers forced per game (17.0), 22nd in assists per game (16.4), 24th in blocks per game (5.0) and 24th in free throw attempts per game (22.1).
RANKING SUMMARY
Oklahoma is ranked in the top 50 in five NCAA Division I categories. OU is 20th in field goal percentage (48.7%), 22nd in 3-point percentage defense (29.2), 24th in effective field goal percentage (55.2%), 41st in fouls per game (14.9) and 42nd in scoring defense (63.8 PPG).
Tanner Groves is 36th in defensive rebounds per game (6.5) and Grant Sherfield is 53rd in free throw percentage (86.3%). Sherfield is second in the Big 12 in free throw percentage, third in minutes per game (33:57), fourth in field goals (107), fifth in points (323) and sixth in points per game (17.5). Groves ranks second in defensive rebounds per game (6.5) and third in total rebounds (132). Hill is fifth in minutes per game (33:04).
Sherfield is 24th among active NCAA Division I career leaders in assist average (4.75), 25th in scoring average (15.4), 27th in assist to turnover ratio (1.86), 27th in assists (489) and 61st in total points (1,583). The Fort Worth, Texas product is one of 29 DI active men's basketball players with 1,500 points and 300 assists. Groves is 82nd in career rebounds (683).
BILLY BALL
Billy Tubbs coached the Sooners for 14 seasons and compiled a 333-132 record and is the all-time winningest coach in program history. Following his run with the Sooners, Tubbs spent eight seasons as the TCU head coach. He led the Horned Frogs to a 156-95 mark.
NET/FUTURE OPPOSITION
The Sooners are 57th in the NET (1/20) and TCU is 17th. Of Oklahoma's 12 remaining contests, the Sooners have 10 quad one games and two quad two games.
