Oklahoma Set for Four Matches at Virginia Duals

The Oklahoma wrestling program will spend its weekend on the road at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va. The Sooners will compete in four duals at the two-day event, with the first coming vs. No. 23 Maryland at 10:30 a.m. CT Friday. Fans can follow the Virginia Duals with a FloWrestling subscription.

LAST TIME OUT

Starting its weekend trip to Edinboro, Pa., Oklahoma (3-2, 0-1 Big 12) toppled Edinboro 22-15 to secure its first dual victory of the new year. The following day, the Sooners earned first place as a team and touted four wrestlers earning titles, in their respective weight classes, at the Bobby Kaufman Memorial Open.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

No. 23 Maryland meets OU after suffering its first loss of the season, 17-16, to Indiana in the team's Big Ten Conference opener. The Terrapins boast a 5-0 record against non-conference dual opponents, including an upset over No. 16/17 Pitt.

On Friday afternoon, the Sooners will face Campbell (6-5) to wrap up action on day one. Campbell enters the dual fresh off a 25-12 win over Gardner-Webb and a 37-6 loss to No. 17 Nebraska. The matchup marks the first time in history that the Sooners and Camels have met.

Oklahoma's schedule on Saturday opens with a matchup against Ohio, who the Sooners defeated 35-6 in 2019.

A battle with Navy awaits the Sooners in their final dual of the weekend. Oklahoma is 13-0 all-time vs. Navy in a series that dates back to 1965 but the teams haven't met since a 26-10 OU win in 2012. \
