NORMAN – The Big 12 Conference released its women's basketball slate on Monday, completing Oklahoma's 2022-23 schedule by setting dates for the Sooners' 18 Big 12 matchups for the upcoming season.
A pair of Oklahoma's conference contests are slated for national broadcasts, with the remaining home Big 12 games airing on SoonerVision on ESPN+. The Sooners' showdown vs. Iowa State on Jan. 8 will air on ESPN2, while OU's trip to Kansas State will be broadcast on ESPNU on Feb. 12.
In head coach
Jennie Baranczyk's second season, Oklahoma opens conference play on the road at West Virginia on Dec. 31. The Sooners then return to Norman to open 2023 with a two-game home swing vs. Baylor (Jan. 3) and Iowa State (Jan. 8).
The team's seven remaining home contests take place on Jan. 14 vs. Kansas, Jan. 21 vs. Oklahoma State, Jan. 31 vs. TCU, Feb. 4 vs. West Virginia, Feb. 15 vs. Texas Tech, Feb. 25 vs. Texas and March 1 vs. Kansas State.
Outside of the conference-opening road trip to Morgantown, the Sooners will hit the road for games on Jan. 11 at Texas Tech, Jan. 18 at TCU, Jan. 25 at Texas, Jan. 28 at Iowa State, Feb. 7 at Baylor, Feb. 12 at Kansas State (ESPNU), Feb. 19 at Kansas and March 4 at Oklahoma State.
The conference schedule features a full double-round robin format for the 11th consecutive season. In 2021-22, the Sooners finished fourth in Big 12 play with a 12-6 record, the team's best finish since 2017-18. Six of the Big 12's 10 teams made the NCAA Tournament last season, with four of those teams, including OU, hosting first and second round NCAA Tournament games.
For the third consecutive season, the 2023 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship will be held March 9-12 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
Oklahoma returns over 90% of its scoring and rebounding from last year's NCAA Tournament team, highlighted by the nation's highest-scoring returning trio in
Ana Llanusa,
Taylor Robertson and
Madi Williams.
Oklahoma's season opens Nov. 7 when it plays host to Oral Roberts and Lloyd Noble Center.
